Every Kintail Bagpipe is turned and finished by hand by our master bagpipe makers. The making of a fine musical instrument requires skill, experience, great care and time. Only the finest African Blackwood and Ebony is selected. After pre-boring and shaping the wood it is left to settle in our temperature and moisture controlled wood stores. The hand turned and finished bagpipe must pass all aspects of our quality control before the Kintail stamp is applied to the end product.

We believe that the slow process of making bagpipes by hand is necessary to allow the wood to mature and settle at each stage of the manufacturing process. The bagpipe maker needs to allow time to let the natural materials settle so they can be transformed into the finest quality musical instruments.

The Kintail Regulation Pattern is our most popular bagpipe due to its tonal quality and ease of tuning. Since 1971 we have made thousands of these sets, thus making them the backbone of the piping community worldwide.
